Animal Medical Center of Amarillo’s experienced support staff strive to provide personalized, compassionate care for our patients and clients alike.

Veronica Villanueva
Hospital Manager

Veronica Villanueva joined Animal Medical Center in January 2000 while perusing her Biology Degree at West Texas A & M University. She started as a part time receptionist and quickly became a full time team member. Over the years Veronica earned both CVA level 1 and level 2 while working with the excellent team at AMC. In March of 2013 Veronica was ask to work as interim Manager for the hospital. In January of 2014 she was officially given the title of Hospital Manager overseeing both Animal Medical Center and Tails Inn. She recently rescued a Chinese Crested Hairless named Delilah Blu. She also has a cat named Fredrick and a Snake named Sunshine Rey. On her off time she enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, gardening and spending time with family members.  Veronica is honored and feels extremely blessed to work everyday with such amazing individuals who love and care for animals so much. In the past 17 years she has learned so much from the doctors and other staff members to help her grow in the veterinary field. She is honored to be part of an excellent team that go above and beyond the call of duty to achieve the best care for these beloved pets.

Customer Service Representatives

Kim Harris

Kim Harris, Receptionist at Amarillo Animal HospitalKim Harris is our newest receptionist. She joined the AMC team August of 2012. Kim graduated from Randall High School in 2008 and received her Veterinary Assistant certification from Amarillo College. She has a Belgian Shepherd mix, Sammie, who was rescued from the Humane Society when she was 2 months old.

In her off time, Kim enjoys reading, music, and playing video games. Kim’s favorite part of working at Animal Medical Center is being able to positively affect the lives of so many animals and their owners.

Luis Torres

Luis Torres at Animal Medical Center of Amarillo Animal HospitalLuis Torres was seeking his career path two years ago when he became a kennel attendant at Tails Inn. It was immediate that he found his calling. Luis loves his job working with animals and learning all he can from the veterinary field. He is a member of the praise and worship team at Elevate Church, where he also sings and plays guitar. Luis loves God, people and animals.

Shelley Britten

Shelley BrittenShelley Britten has 4 dogs, 1 cat and 2 horses. She enjoys rodeo, spending time with her family and work. She has been a valued member of Animal Medical Center for over four years. Shelley loves her co-workers, patients, and their owners.

Cassandra Featherson

Cassandra Featherson at Animal Medical Center of AmarilloCassandra Featherston joined the Animal Medical Center team in 2016. She started working as a veterinary technician her senior year at Levelland High School. She graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology from Penn Foster College in 2013 and is now a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). Cassandra has three Chihuahuas; Boogers, Pongo, and Chico. She says she enjoys being an LVT at Animal Medical Center mostly because enjoys working with the team of people who care for animals as much as she does.

Jeananne Ferguson

Jeananne Ferguson at Amarillo Animal HospitalJeananne Ferguson joined the staff of Animal Medical Center in 2008 as a receptionist. Jeananne was born in Southern California and attended Moorpark Community College. She was an Animal Attendant at the Amarillo Zoo before coming to work at AMC and is now a Level One Certified Veterinary Assistant. She is also is the proud mother of 3 daughters. Jeananne says the best things about working at AMC are the getting to work with the animals and her special relationship with the clients.

Nicole (Nickie) Kirchgessner

Nicole (Nickie) Kirchgessner at Amarillo Animal ClinicNickie has been an employee of AMC since 2004. Nickie has loved to care for animals since she was a small child. She has always been interested in all types of species. Nickie married her sweet, patient high school sweetheart and they happily live with their nearly 60 different pets . They range from cats, dogs, reptiles an African Grey parrot , many small mammals, goats, chickens and ducks from various rescue opportunities.

Nickie has a Bachelor of Arts in Animal Science and is a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She also is a volunteer rehabilitator for small animal wildlife at Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Her favorite part about Animal Medical Center is that “it (AMC) feels like family and we treat every patient like they are our own every day I get to learn and grown in a field I love so much.”

Brie Kinsey

Brie Kinsey at Amarillo Animal ClinicBrie Kinsey received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from West Texas A & M University. It is her life goal to become a veterinarian. She loves working at Tails Inn because it allows her the experience and knowledge as she works toward her future goal. She also loves the opportunity to care and play with our client’s pets on a daily basis. Brie enjoys dancing, reading to her betta, Clifford the Big Red Fish. One day Brie would like to have a Retirement Home for all kinds of animals.

Brie is a CVA Level 1 who enjoys learning all that veterinary medicine has to offer! Her motto is “When your pet walks through the door , it becomes my pet too!” On her down time she teaches Zumba Fitness classes and continues trying to reach her goal of attending Veterinary School.

Amanda Eldridge

Amanda Edgridge at Animal Medical Center of AmarilloAmanda Eldridge grew up in Canyon, Texas and attended high school and college in Portales, NM. She studied Family and Consumer Sciences with Emphasis in Fashion Merchandising at Eastern New Mexico University and Kent State University’s Fashion Studio in New York City. In her free time she designs and sells jewelry online and at a local art gallery. Her love of animals brought her to Animal Medical Center in February 2016.

Denise Johnson

Denise Johnson at Amarillo Animal HospitalDenise Johnson has been a member of Tails Inn sin May 2014. She is a graduate of Tascosa High School and is working to receive her Certification in Veterinary Assistant program. Denise enjoys playing pool, going to the movies, and spending time with her family and animals. She loves her dogs, cats and Guinea pigs with all her heart. Denise also enjoys working with all the animals at Tails Inn and their owners. Denise states the employees are always positive and super friendly with everyone. She loves her position and hope to be part of the team for a long time.

Blood Donors

Jasper

Jasper at Amarillo Animal ClinicJasper joined the staff of Animal Medical Center in early 2008 as a resident blood donor. He was born in about 2006 but we are unsure of his birthdate because he was found as a stray in Amarillo and taken to the GALT program. He is the 8th greyhound that the Culps have adopted and says the best part of working at Animal Medical Center is having a nice warm bed and all the attention he can get!

Jax

Jax at Amarillo Animal ClinicJax joined the staff of Animal Medical Center in early 2011 as a resident blood donor. He was born in 2009 and turned into the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas in the fall of 2010. Jax had one eye removed before the Culps adopted hiim and he now has a prosthetic eyeball. He is the 10th greyhound that the Culps have adopted and says the best part of working at Animal Medical Center is living with the Culps and his new brother and sister and all the toys that he now has to play with.

Millie

Millie at Amarillo Animal ClinicMillie joined the staff of Animal Medical Center in 2009 as a resident blood donor. She was born in 2007 and was adopted by Wick and Janet Culp from the Greyhoud Adoption League of Texas. She is the 9th greyhound that has been adopted by the Culp household. Millie says the best part of working at Animal Medical Center is having a great home and the love of everyone at AMC.
